Homebaked Chicken Nuggets

After a few times trying, I finally have an alternative solution for McDonalds at 3 in the morning!

The first time went out sucks. I tried to be skeptical and that left me nothing but a dry bunch of baked chicken pieces. Then I added up a bit more of flour, subtracted a few grams of chicken meat, twisted it up with a hint of egg. And this version might be a good MVP.

Lol sorry, working too long in a software firm hits me pretty hard.

  • 200 – 220gr chicken breast, cubed and minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1,5 – 2tbsp of flour
  • 15ml BBQ sauce, or bulgogi, or hot sauce, or whatever you like
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • a sprinkle of paprika or cayenne
  • oatmeal for coating. I didn’t measure this one, I just pour it out more after each time of coating. Better have a whole package just in case!

Add chicken meat, 1 egg, dried oregano and paprika/ cayenne in the food processor. Pulse it until the batter becomes thick and sticky. Add in the flour and knead well.

Whisk up the other egg on a soup plate (it’d be better to dip in the nuggets). Pour the oatmeal in another plate. Scoop out one nugget at a time, dip it in the egg before finishing it with a coat of oatmeal.

Preheat the oven at 230*C. Place the nugget onto a sheeted baking tray. Brush up a layer of egg yolk onto every nugget and bake it for 20-22′, until the nuggets become golden.

I’m not sure this would be the best substitution for your nuggets craving. In other words, it would be a bit dry compared to the original fried one. We’ll get there, soon. But for now, enjoy the first bites and let me know what you think!
